How to Enable and Fix Valorant Error VAN9003 (TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot)

A step by step walkthrough for fixing the VAN9003 error by checking and enabling TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot.

Windows security settings and a BIOS menu showing Secure Boot options

VAN9003 appears when Vanguard cannot confirm that your PC meets its security requirements. On current Windows setups, that usually means TPM 2.0 or Secure Boot is turned off. Both can normally be enabled without reinstalling anything.

Check your current status

  • Press the Windows key and R, type msinfo32 and press Enter.
  • Look at Secure Boot State. It should say On.
  • Check BIOS Mode. It should say UEFI, not Legacy.
  • Press the Windows key and R again, type tpm.msc and press Enter. The window should show a TPM with specification version 2.0.

Turn on TPM 2.0

TPM is often disabled in firmware by default. Restart your PC and enter the BIOS or UEFI setup, usually with Delete, F2 or another key shown on the startup screen. Look for settings such as TPM, fTPM, PTT or Security Device Support, depending on your processor and board. Enable it and save.

Turn on Secure Boot

Secure Boot is normally found in the Boot or Security section of the same menu. Set it to Enabled. If the option is greyed out, your system may be set to Legacy or CSM mode. Disable CSM first, and make sure your disk uses GPT, since Secure Boot needs UEFI boot.

If your disk is not GPT

Some older installs use MBR. Windows includes a tool called mbr2gpt that can convert a system disk without wiping it. Back up your data first and follow Microsoft’s instructions carefully.

After the change

Restart, open msinfo32 again and confirm Secure Boot State is On. Launch Valorant and let Vanguard load. The error should be gone.

Still stuck

Motherboard menus differ a lot, so check your manufacturer’s support page for exact menu names. If you are also dealing with account or hardware penalties, our Valorant penalties guide explains what each one means. For purchase checks, see the buying guide and Valorant tools on the product page.
